A top barrister quit the inquiry into historic child sex abuse, it has been revealed, in a fresh blow for the troubled probe.
Toby Fisher said he wanted to stand down in August citing concerns about the probe's “progress and direction" and would not have left otherwise, according to BBC Newsnight.
He was the joint second most senior barrister on the inquiry and was one of the first three appointed.
Mr Fisher's decision to quit came a fortnight after the departure of the probe's third chair, Dame Lowell Goddard. The circumstances of her leaving remain unclear but have caused much concern.
Other senior lawyers have fled the panel, while its most senior QC Ben Emmerson faces an allegation of sexual assault – which he denies. Full story...
