Passengers in India push a train to jump start it...

When things don’t happen on their own, we have to make them happen. The common residents of Gwalior have together managed to accomplish a great feat which proves that unity can help overcome any obstacle.

On Friday, the narrow gauge train Kailaras-Sabalgadh stopped mid-way succumbing to engine failure due to overheating. For about an hour the train was standing in the middle of a road. Seeing no help coming from the railways, the passengers took the matter into their own hands and pushed the train off the road. Luckily, they only had to move the train a few meters as the engine started again, presumably because the engine had cooled by then.

In a country like India where big promises are made regarding bullet trains, this incident reflects the harsh reality of the existing railway system. It is time that our government and railways take serious measures to make the existing trains fully functional with better facilities rather than waiting for bullet trains. Source + photos...
