Female photojournalist gang-raped in Mumbai...

Twenty men have been arrested after a young photographer was gang-raped on her first magazine assignment by five men in a smart Mumbai suburb last night.

The attack revived sore memories in India of the gang-rape and murder of a 23 year old student in Delhi last December after she boarded a bus on her way home from the cinema.

Last night's attack and gang-rape reignited the anger India's women voiced last year and highlighted the danger they face throughout the country.

The latest victim had been working in Mumbai's Lower Parel with a male colleague when they were attacked. She was first harassed by two men who then attacked and tied up her male colleague when he objected. According to Mumbai police she was then dragged into a derelict mill building where she was gang-raped by five men.

Police arrested 20 men after the victim lodged a complaint. She is now reported to be in a stable condition in hospital. Full story...
