Police review of Jimmy Savile dismissed as a ‘whitewash’

JIMMY Savile’s youngest victim was just five, it was revealed yesterday, as a police report into the sex offender’s close relationship with detectives was dismissed as a whitewash.

West Yorkshire Police’s review of its officers’ contact with the disgraced DJ found there was no evidence that his friendships protected him from prosecution.

But child protection campaigners said the internal probe revealed “yet more potential missed opportunities” to catch the serial sex offender.

Incredibly, the Jim’ll Fix It star regularly entertained officers at his Leeds flat in meetings known as “the Friday Morning Club”.

Although the cosy coffee mornings took place at a time he was fronting various police campaigns, Savile managed to conceal his decades-long campaign of child abuse. Full story...
