A 13-year-old Chinese girl has been found guilty of killing and dismembering a female classmate because she thought she was better looking than her.
The girl, identified only by the surname Qin, is understood to have killed her friend, named only as Zhou, last year in Guangxi Province in the south of China.
The pair were both in the sixth grade at Nandan County Lihu Yao Elementary School.
According to the court's judgment, seen by the website Chinacourt.org and cited by the China Daily, the pair were good friends. Qin however became increasingly jealous of her looks and popularity in class. Zhou also commented on Qin's weight and looks, the judgment claimed.
The principal of the children's school told local radio: "Both children had high grades ... Qin was not a confident girl. She was not an ugly girl, but she is a bit chubby. Zhou was tall and slim." Full story...
