Woman forced to throw away £2,000 gold necklace by Heathrow airport security...

Heathrow operator BAA has launched an investigation after a Ukrainian woman was forced to throw away a £2,000 piece of gold jewellery by an over-zealous security officer.

The 34-year-old woman, who works for Ukrainian television, was passing through security at Terminal 5 when staff took exception to the necklace she was wearing - which features a gold bullet pendant hanging from the chain.

The officer allegedly told the woman to dispose of the necklace in one of the bins usually reserved for shampoos, razors and other items not allowed to be taken aboard passenger planes amid concerns that it could be “dangerous”.

With her was Andrey Yermak, an international lawyer, who has lodged a complaint with BAA demanding return of the item or for the woman - who wishes to remain anonymous - to be recompensed. Full story...
