A surprise search at a prison in Mexico has uncovered two peacocks, 100 fighting cocks, 19 prostitutes and two sacks filled with marijuana.
And police in the Mexican resort city of Acapulco also found dozens of televisions, several bottles of alcohol and knives, as well as six female prisoners in the men's section of the jail.
The discovery came as 500 federal officers prepared to transfer some 60 inmates to maximum security prisons overnight Sunday to Monday, said Arturo Martinez, spokesman for federal anti-drug operations in the western state of Guerrero.
The search was part of a dawn raid on Monday, Guerrero state spokesman Arturo Martinez said, without disclosing how the women, birds and other banned objects found their way into the prison. Full story...
