Pakistani atheists and agnostics launch progressive Internet portal...

About 95-98 percent of Pakistan's population practices Islam, the state religion. In a recent Pew Forum report on religious intolerance and hostility, Pakistan was listed as one of the most intolerant countries toward other religions.

Despite this environment, a new website has been created by the Pakistani Atheists & Agnostics. The site, launched on Independence Day, aims to unite atheists, agnostics and freethinkers of Pakistan at a common hub for "intellectual discourse, progressive movements and … finding common grounds to create a balance in society."

With news and a resource directory, the site helps atheists and agnostics in the country realize that they are not alone. Secular causes, free speech and the separation of religion and state are promoted, as well as the rights of women and minorities. Source...
