The full extent of polygamist leader Warren Jeffs's underage sex ring was exposed by prosecutors today after he was found guilty of sexually abusing a 12-year-old and 15-year-old girl.
As the Texas court begins to consider punishment of Jeffs, prosecutors told the jury he had 24 underage 'wives.
Jeffs - who faces up to life in prison - stood and yelled an incoherent objection as the allegations against him were read out.
Lead prosecutor Eric Nichols told jurors they will present evidence that Jeffs had 78 wives, in addition to his legal spouse, and that 24 of them were under the age of 17.
He also said he would show that Jeffs either witnessed or performed more than 500 polygamist marriages, as well as 67 other church marriages involving underage girls. More + photos...
