Malaysian authorities have caned three women for having sex out of wedlock, the first time women have been flogged in the country.
The sentences were carried out after a religious court found them guilty. Two of the women are reported to have been whipped six times.
Malaysia last year drew international criticism when Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, a mother of two, was ordered to be flogged for drinking beer. Authorities have yet to carry out that sentence. More...
